By Captain/EMT Spencer Wiesner
February 13, 2021

Members of the South Bossier Fire Department responded to two different Motor Vehicle Collision Rollovers within the first 6 hours of Shift.

At 1552, tones dropped for a 1 Vehicle "MVC" with one patient ejected from the vehicle. With the on-shift workers from Station 4 being at our Central Station getting routine supplies, this expedited all members and apparatus responding as they were much closer to the incident. Within 1 minute, Sprint 4, Sprint 1, Rescue 1, and Engine 1 were en route to the scene as well as with multiple volunteer units. Upon arrival, crews found 1 patient that appeared to be ejected from a vehicle. The vehicle appeared to have rolled multiple times although landed right-side-up. Spinal Immobilization procedures were utilized and the patient was transferred into the care of Bossier Parish EMS Medic 4.

Later that evening, while Sprint 1 and shift workers from Central Station were responding to a medical call, tones dropped for a 1 vehicle MVC Rollover on the Caplis Sligo Road. The on-shift workers from Station 4 quickly responded with Sprint 4 and Engine 4. Two volunteer members that were also participating in our "ride-out" program were also at Station 4 increasing the response with an additional EMT and EMR. Shortly after, members close to Central picked up Rescue 1 and Engine 1, as well as many volunteer units responded directly to the scene. Upon arrival, the patient was laying next to an upside down vehicle with an altered level of consciousness. Paramedics and EMT's administered patient care and assisted BPEMS Medic 3 upon their arrival.
