Annual Testing – South Bossier Fire District #2

Annual testing is a vital part of maintaining emergency readiness at South Bossier Fire District #2. These routine evaluations ensure that our apparatus and equipment are functioning properly and ready to respond when our community needs us most. This commitment allows us to continue providing the high level of service our citizens deserve.

In addition to enhancing safety, annual testing provides official documentation that verifies performance, supports maintenance records, and helps maintain our district’s insurance rating.

Pump Testing
Each year, all engines and tankers undergo pump testing to confirm they can operate at their rated capacity for a sustained period of time. Our apparatus are equipped with pumps rated at 1,250 or 1,500 gallons per minute, ensuring reliable water delivery during emergencies.

Hose Testing
Annually, all fire hose is removed from service for inspection and testing. Each hose is visually inspected, marked, and pressurized to the appropriate PSI. Any hose that does not meet standards is immediately removed and replaced to ensure reliability on the fireground.

Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA)
Our SCBA units are tested yearly to ensure all components and safety features are fully operational. These units are a critical lifeline for our firefighters, allowing them to safely perform rescues and operate in hazardous or smoke-filled environments.

Hydrant Testing
Our crews conduct annual hydrant inspections in accordance with the American Water Works Association standards. This includes checking functionality, ensuring proper flow, and confirming hydrants are visible and accessible when needed.

Annual testing is more than just a requirement—it is a reflection of our commitment to operational excellence, firefighter safety, and the trust our community places in us.
