While coming back from a call, Bossier Parish EMS Medic 4 was driving down Highway 157 and noticed flames in the distance. As they got closer to the potential incident, they confirmed a working structure fire. With their quick thinking, they notified South Bossier Fire Department "Headquarters" over the radio of the incident enabling our firefighters to get ready and get to the firetrucks before being alerted and paged out by 911. Medic 4 sized up the scene confirming heavy flames from the "A" and "B" sides of the structure with unknown occupancy. Engine 1, Tanker 1, Engine 4, and Tanker 4 were on the road within seconds of the completed 911 page. Additional volunteers responding to the fire were able to get Engine 2, Engine 5, Tanker 5, and Rescue 1 en route. Upon arrival, Engine 1 made an aggressive attack knocking down the main seat of the fire, without letting it spread to the rest of the house. As additional members and apparatus arrived on the scene, firefighters "bunkered out" and conducted a search of the home. The search team confirmed that no one was inside the structure. After checking for extension, and putting out all "hot-spots" in the home. Due to the quick knockdown of the fire, members were on the scene for approximately 90 minutes. The scene was handed over to the Louisiana Fire Marshall for further investigation.
